Hi folks,
Well I guess spring is right around the corner. We've been having warm days and nights. I saw some cottonwood trees budding out. It's been a funny winter, warm 'til the middle of January then cold for a spell and now it's warm again. It was 76 here in Alpine at 4:30 today.
Well, we went to the Western market in Dallas and found some really nice things. We found some really fine handwoven wool rugs, a lot of new bridle bits, some spurs, some really cool fencing pliers, and new shirts. The main thing we found at the market for my two cents worth was the leather stamping tools. We have never been able to carry them before because no one wholesaled them but we found some really good ones. And a plethora of other things should be on the website pretty soon.
Don't forget Art of the Cowgirl this month February 25 through March 1 in Wickenburg Arizona. Should be a blast.
Congratulations to all the rodeo cowboys that won in Fort Worth. We hope they enjoy wearing their Big Bend Saddlery trophy buckles. We were able to go to the rodeo one night while we were in Dallas. It was lots of fun for folks that don't get out much.
While we were in Dallas, we ate with our friends Harry and Shelly Hudson. Shelly owns Nonna, an Italian food restaurant that served one of the finest meals I've eaten in my life. Everything is made on premise, including the cheese and sausage. Had a great visit at lunch with photographer, Laura Wilson from Dallas. I met Laura 35 years ago while she was in West Texas photographing the Means Y6 Ranch.
While she was in Alpine, she took a picture of my one year-old daughter, Mattie in her diaper on my work bench. We celebrated Mattie's 35th birthday with Laura at Nonna. If you're ever in Dallas, I would highly recommend you go eat at Nonna.
Come by and see us if you're out this way!
Adios for now,
Gary
Thanks for sending this to me. It is interesting reading.
