Hi folks, I hope you're all doing well and that some of the rain clouds have found you but nothing like what they had around Kerrville and Boerne. Hard to figure how you have a 1000 year flood two years in a row.
Most folks out here have had some timely rains. Seems like it's starting to dry out a little now, but nothing bad. A lot of folks have grown more grass than they have in the last two years combined. If we go ahead and get some regular rains when they are supposed to come, it will be a bumper year for us.
Well, there's a lot going on in this part of the world and not all of it good. Brewster County has had two screwworm reports and a lot of the county is restricted, but it's not as bad as it sounds. You just have to have your livestock inspected before you can move them or haul them. The USDA has been making lots of fly drops so hopefully they are ahead of the curve.
Other controversial things keep popping up. There have been some test wells drilled with the intent of selling water to Midland Odessa solar farms, wanting to move in AI centers, and the possibility of a new power transmission line through the Glass Mountains, as well as the border wall all happening now at a ranch near you.
There is no telling how this will sort out, I'm not real sure why we need all of it. I'd personally like to see things get a little simpler. I think a lot of folks are looking for artificial intelligence since there seems to be a scarcity of naturally occurring intelligence in our culture today, but I guess folks younger than me will be the ones to see how that all works out.
Hope y'all can make it to the Big Bend Ranch rodeo August seventh and eighth. It's always a big time lots of good folks there to visit with. Hope to see you then!
