Note From The Saddle Bench: February 2022

 Hi Folks!

Hope this note finds everyone in good health.

Art of the Cowgirl was a great show. Not only were there lots of cowgirls and cowboys, they came from all over the west and points beyond. The Pates do a great job of putting on all the competitions as well as the clinics that were so well attended. Our own Molly Jo Evans' sister-in-law Vail Collins from California captained the winning team.

It continues to be terribly dry throughout West Texas. Everyone I talk to says the same thing. No rain since the middle of August (if they were fortunate enough to get rain then).

We continue to add new inventory. In the near future we will have new, authentic Navajo Rugs from the reservations in New Mexico and Arizona. We have added several new styles of halters as well as a used gear department. We just received a new shipment of old, out of print books. Call if you'd like to know titles.

The Sul Ross Rodeo Team will be starting up the spring semester rodeos in about a week with the Odessa College Rodeo. In the meantime, some of them have been entering and placing at some of the big winter rodeos. McKenna Hickson won a go-round of the breakaway roping at San Antonio just this week.

The illegal aliens are still a tremendous problem here in West Texas. The Cartels have it down to a science, controlling the entire process from start to finish. I hope that the midterm elections bring someone who really wants to fix the problem and not just talk about it.

Talk to you next time,

Gary Dunshee
