Hi Folks!

Hope you all had a good 4th of July. The old timers say the 4th starts the rainy season in West Texas, but its running a little behind schedule in Far West Texas this year. We are not in bad shape but I think most everyone is ready for it to rain. I went to the Oklahoma panhandle this last week. From Lubbock, Tx to Balko, Ok is about as wet as it can be. Playa lakes are full everywhere and its as green as a gourd. In the lower places the grass had covered up the fences. All the cattle I saw were full and bedded down by 10:00 in the morning. Beats working all day to make a living. Billy Klapper said it had been a really long time since he had seen it that wet around Pampa, Tx. We are sure happy for those folks. Hope it spreads across the country.

I saw Tom Moorehouse in Lubbock on my way back. He was saying that very seldom do ranches get a good rainy season at the same time as a good cattle market, but this year is the exception. Sure would be nice to put two years of that together.

I think the heat has lots of folks staying at home under the air conditioning. Been pretty hot to be touring around west Texas but it's still probably cooler here than most of the rest of the state.

All you Sul Ross Ag and Rodeo Exes don't forget the Reunion coming up July 21st-23rd. Sul Ross made a good showing at the College National Finals with Tristen Hutchings winning the Bull Riding for the second year in a row. He is doing well in the PRCA standings as well sitting at 7th in the world while Ky Hamilton (another former Sul Ross student) is number 1 in the world right now. Good luck to both of them!

The Texas music festival known as Viva Big Bend will take place in Alpine July 26th-30th. Come by on Saturday morning, July 29th, and we will feed you a chuckwagon breakfast while you listen to music by Craig Carter and John Davis.

Hope you have a good month! Adios for now.
