Hi Folks!

Well our rain and cool spell I mentioned last month didn't last long. It heated right back up and hasn't rained since. The grass turned green but generally hasn't grown. We woke up to a cloudy, cool morning today though. There is a fine mist in the air but no measurable rainfall. Maybe tomorrow.

Hope you have looked online at our used/old book selection. They are listed by title with no pictures of the covers. If you want a better look at something give us a call and we'd be happy to help. We found some really good books. One of my favorites is one about George Humphreys who ran the 6666's for years. Let us know if you have any old historical books about ranching or cowboying that you would like to sell. We are always in the market for them.

The elk finally came down the mountain. Guess they didn't want to miss this year's rut. Some of the bulls still have strips of velvet hanging from their horns. Guess the hunters don't mind that, we saw a bull someone shot in the back of a pickup coming out of a place north of Alpine. I still don't see many mule deer around. Their numbers seem pretty low.

There are lots of good events coming up in the next few weeks here in town. The Trappings of Texas starts Thursday night (Sept. 14th) and runs through Saturday evening. The Sul Ross Rodeo is the 21st - 23rd of this month. Sul Ross has a huge enrollment of Rodeo kids this year. We hope they have a great year and bring another National Championship back to Alpine.

See y'all next month!
