March 2025 - Note from the Saddle Bench

Greetings from Alpine, Texas or what used to be Alpine Texas. I think we have more dirt here now from Arizona and Mexico then we do original West Texas dirt. The wind has been pretty relentless at times. I know I have seen the wind blow harder but I've never seen this much dirt in the air in this part of the world. There is just no moisture in the ground to hold it. We are definitely looking forward to a spring shower.

We had a really good run in Wickenburg, Arizona at Art of the Cowgirl. It was very well attended, and we saw a lot of people that live farther west of the Mississippi River than we usually do at shows.

Most of the ranches in this country are either branding or getting ready to brand. That is the ranches that still have cows. If it doesn't rain this spring, I suspect we will see what cows are left in the mountains headed out. The old grass is short and there won't be any new until it rains.

We received all of the stamping tools I talked about last month. We don't have them on the website yet but until we do, give us a call if you need something will send you some pictures. They are really nice stamps at an affordable price. We have several new projects in the works including some new stock belts. Hope we have them ready in time for next month's newsletter.

Congratulations to Houston McKenzie and his family on another successful Angus bull sale. They really do a good job and have some of the best Angus cattle in the country.

We hope you all have a good month and if you come out this way for spring break drop by and say hello!

Adios for now,

Gary Dunshee
