April 2025- Note from the Saddle Bench

Hello from Sunny far West Texas!

We had some scattered showers and a little snow a couple of weeks ago, but you wouldn't be able to tell it now. It's still powder keg dry and getting up to the 80s every day. We are starting to see just a small tinge of green in the grass.

The Aoudad hunters are wrapping up their hunts for this season. Heard they really got some nice ones. I think there are plenty left to start next season with.

We had a display at the Texas Lyceum Conference out at High Frontier Resort just outside of Fort Davis. It was a really good evening. When it's all finished the High Frontier Resort looks to be a spectacular place to spend some time. They are going to have plenty to do and really good food. There's not a bad view on the whole resort, anyway you look is a Texas Highways cover shot. Lots of building going on at the south end of the county as well, the Lajitas-Terlingua area are growing like gangbusters. Lots of new businesses and new homes going in. I heard they might enlarge the golf course.

Just a few weeks now till the Abilene ranch rodeo or Western Heritage Classic whatever you want to call it. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. We've been working on some horsehide belts, man they are gonna be tough. Don't know if we'll have them ready by Abilene, but if not shortly there after. Might have to give a 15 year warranty with these!

Here's hoping you get a rain before too long. Adios for now!
