There have been some big thunderheads that put out a lot of rain east and north of Fort Stockton. I have talked to a lot of people from North Texas that have received really good rains. Seems like a lot of the state has been blessed with good rains. Hope it continues 'til everyone gets what they need. Don't forget the Western Heritage Classic coming up this weekend. It's always a good time. Get to see a lot of good people and a lot of good gear. The elk are just about through shedding their horns I try to keep a big bale of alfalfa out for the elk when it's extremely dry and usually a dozen or so will take me up on it. Photo Courtesy of Stephanie Roundy Greetings from Alpine, Texas or what used to be Alpine Texas. I think we have more dirt here now from Arizona and Mexico then we do original West Texas dirt. The wind has been pretty relentless at times. I know I have seen the wind blow harder but I've never seen this much dirt in the air in this part of the world. There is just no moisture in the ground to hold it. We are definitely looking forward to a spring shower. We had a really good run in Wickenburg, Arizona at Art of the Cowgirl. It was very well attended, and we saw a lot of people that live farther west of the Mississippi River than we usually do at shows. Most of the ranches in this country are either branding or getting ready to brand. That is the ranches that still have cows. If it doesn't rain this spring, I suspect we will see what cows are left in the mountains headed out. The old grass is short and there won't be any new until it rains. February 2025: Note from the Saddle Bench

Photo Courtesy of Laura Wilson Hi folks, Well I guess spring is right around the corner. We've been having warm days and nights. I saw some cottonwood trees budding out. It's been a funny winter, warm 'til the middle of January then cold for a spell and now it's warm again. It was 76 here in Alpine at 4:30 today. Well, we went to the Western market in Dallas and found some really nice things. We found some really fine handwoven wool rugs, a lot of new bridle bits, some spurs, some really cool fencing pliers, and new shirts. The main thing we found at the market for my two cents worth was the leather stamping tools. We have never been able to carry them before because no one wholesaled them but we found some really good ones. And a plethora of other things should be on the website pretty soon.
