There have been some big thunderheads that put out a lot of rain east and north of Fort Stockton. I have talked to a lot of people from North Texas that have received really good rains. Seems like a lot of the state has been blessed with good rains. Hope it continues 'til everyone gets what they need. Don't forget the Western Heritage Classic coming up this weekend. It's always a good time. Get to see a lot of good people and a lot of good gear. The elk are just about through shedding their horns I try to keep a big bale of alfalfa out for the elk when it's extremely dry and usually a dozen or so will take me up on it. Photo Courtesy of Mattie Sargent Hello from Sunny far West Texas! We had some scattered showers and a little snow a couple of weeks ago, but you wouldn't be able to tell it now. It's still powder keg dry and getting up to the 80s every day. We are starting to see just a small tinge of green in the grass. The Aoudad hunters are wrapping up their hunts for this season. Heard they really got some nice ones. I think there are plenty left to start next season with. We had a display at the Texas Lyceum Conference out at High Frontier Resort just outside of Fort Davis. It was a really good evening. When it's all finished t he High Frontier Resort looks to be a spectacular place to spend some time. They are going to have plenty to do and really good food. There's not a bad view on the whole resort, anyway you look is a Texas Highways cover shot. Lots of building going on at the south end of the county as well, the Lajitas-Terlingua area are growing like gangbusters. Lots o...

Photo Courtesy of Mattie Sargent Hi folks! Well it looks like summer is upon us. We've had good weather here in the Davis Mountains temperature wise, just can't seem to get a good general rain. It's still raining east of us and keeps raining in the same places over and over. I'm happy for the folks that get it, but would sure like to see it spread around a little as well. The big rains they've had has got the Rio Grande running in places. I'm seeing lots of canoes and rafts coming and going down the highway. The western Heritage Classic in Abilene was really great. I think there were more folks there than I've ever seen. Most people were telling us about the nice rains they've had and how deep the grass was. Combine that with the best cattle prices ever and it was a really good show for us. Carol Richter from Cameron was there on Saturday and he said the day before he saw a three day old Hereford heifer calf sell at the Cameron sale barn for $1100. ...
