Greetings from far West Texas!
We have really been having a good month as far as rain goes. Seems like almost everyone has had a little bit. Nothing general but lots of good showers around. We hear a lot of good things about the rain east of here. Hope this is a good year for everyone.
The Western Heritage Classic in Abilene was really good as usual. The only problem was not enough motel rooms to go around. The demand for motel rooms brought on by the data centers has caused the prices to skyrocket. If you plan on going to Abilene you might want to check on rooms before you pull out.
The Rocky Mountain Leather Show in Sheridan, Wyoming was really good. We all enjoyed it thoroughly. King Ropes has a big supper for everyone attending. They are typical of the hospitable Ranching community in Wyoming. We found lots of tools and supplies to help make a better product as well as seeing a lot of old friends.
Went to the Summer Stampede at the Ranching Heritage Center. Those folks know how to put on a party as well. lots of good Western Art and cowboy gear. Proceeds from the sale benefit the Ranching Center as well as the new Red Steagall Institute. If you haven't been to see the Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock, you should take the time this summer to go. It really portrays our Ranching Heritage in the best of ways.
Viva Big Bend music festival will be the weekend of July 25th. There will be lots of good music in Alpine and all of the surrounding communities. We will be cooking breakfast here at the Saddle Shop on Saturday morning, July 25th for everyone in attendance. Hope you can make it.
Don't forget the big Fourth of July celebration over in Fort Davis as well as the upcoming trappings of Texas Show at the Museum of the Big Bend in September.
Stay cool and happy birthday America!
